The letters in some of the boxes were too large and covered the letters in the following boxes.

I disagree with some of your answers. For instance, a yellow light in that illustration means clear the intersection, do not enter. It does not mean proceed. If it were a flashing yellow it would mean proceed with caution. The double yellow line means do not pass, period! In many states, passing on the right is now illegal.

good to review & reminder as some answers were forgotten over time and 1 was changed – hands on wheel. I was taught 10 & 2 back in the 1960s. now 9 & 3.

Yes, I was taught 10 and 2, but now I know it has changed, so I really only got 1/2 of that one wrong; not my fault. LOL 7.5 out of 8.

The hand positions are not a requirement, only a recommendation that changed due to the advent of airbags in most cars. There is less chance of injury to wrists if the wheel is held at 9-3.

Solid white lines between lanes on the highway mean “do not change lanes!” Stay in your lane until you once again see a broken white line between the lane you are in and the lane you want to move into.

At a 4-way stop, the vehicle arriving and stopping first at the intersection has the right of way – not necessarily the one proceeding straight.

Also, solid white lines are often found between lanes, not only at road edges. A solid white line indicates that lane changes are discouraged in areas where this type of marking is present.

Your answer would be correct for a 4 way stop situation. The example here is an uncontrolled (no stop signs) intersection. That is why the turning vehicle must yield.

Only missed two of the eight. The double yellow strip indicates “no passing” broken line indicates which lane of traffic is able to pass if no oncoming traffic. Actually the question of placement of hands on steering wheel 10/2 is what I was taught!

What is the order when cars approach a 4-way stop? For example, 3 cars come to the stop at varrying times, who goes first, second, etc.

I am a volunteer AARP Driver Safety instructor, so I’d better get them all right (and I did)! I recommend taking the course, not just for the insurance discount, which is worthwhile, but also to learn safety strategies to help you be confident and mobile for as long as you can.

Question number 1: It is difficult to wrap hands around those center bars. It is a much firmer grip with hands at 10 and 2. Hands at 9 and 3 does not feel safe.
