Are you keen on keeping your brain sharp as an arrow as you age? The good news is there are many different ways to keep this complex organ in tip top shape—and many of these activities can also enhance your overall health.
If you want to put together a plan to boost your brain health, it’s important to address your physical, social and mental wellness. For example, you may want to:
- Lace up your sneakers. Exercising regularly can keep your brain in shape along with your biceps.
- Link up with others. Strengthening your social networks is key to brain health.
- Put healthy foods on the menu. Adding more brain-fueling foods like fatty fish and berries to your plate can help beef up cognitive function.
- Fix sleep issues. Getting more quality sleep may help to improve your memory.
Of course, getting on a workout schedule, bolstering your social life, improving your diet and practicing sleep hygiene are all big projects that require sustained time and effort. But there’s also an easy, fun daily habit you can add to the mix right away: playing brain games.
Scientists are still studying the benefits of brain training to better understand its impact on cognitive functioning. They’re also grappling with the very definition of brain health. But while experts do the mental heavy lifting, you may as well jump in and have some fun with our On Target brain teaser.
To solve the On Target brain teaser, take a look at these two targets, both of which contain letters in the outer rings with a blank space in the bull’s eye. For each target, figure out which two letters, when entered together into the center circle, make three six-letter words.
Think you figured it out? Click here to double check your answer.
So, did you shoot for better brain power, hit your target and achieve your goal of a cognitive workout? Comment below and let us know what you thought of the puzzle. How hard (or easy) was it for you to solve?
This one was easy for me. Thanks.
It was easy and fun. I nailed it!
That one I didn’t get. My brain couldn’t understand what I was seeing.😢😢😢
Tricky, but good
Not quick, but got it! Should have done this years ago.
I found them fun but a little easy to solve, maybe you could make a webpage with games similar to what AARP does?
I liked the puzzles, I also did solve them. Send some more!
I enjoy a challenge and this was great, because I was able to get it…I don’t like to be stumped. Keep these coming or send to a source.
Really enjoyed playing this game. Not hard but still thought provoking.
These were fairly easy. They are fun to do. Thanks.
I got it right, but the instructions on this one were rather unclear. I had just done a puzzle from you that wanted the same letter in all words, so I wasn’t clear if each puzzle was separate, here, or whether the same two letters had to work in each puzzle. Also, “reading across” was not clear. It needs another couple words to be clear: “The circle”, as in “reading across the circle”.
I enjoyed the one in Your newsletter today, as well.
It was fun and easy. Great for first thing in the morning. 🙂
We’re glad you liked it, Suzanne!
The puzzles are fun. Include more.
We’re glad you like them, William! Thank you for the positive feedback.
Great brain teaser.
Was not too difficult.
Would really enjoy more like this
Had problems with first puzzle.. got second one fairly fast. ” LL” could be used, also, in first puzzle ( Tulley = a person giving a speech or oration”. Keep ‘ em coming!!
I enjoyed the challenge but the instructions could have been clearer. Instead of ‘Find the two letters…(which leads me to believe that the two letters were in the puzzle). I would have preferred, Think of two letters which when entered in the circle would…..
I could not solve it. When I looked at the solution, I still did not understand it. RK was not shown on either target.
That was fun
We’re glad you liked it, Mary!
Enjoyed it.
That’s great! We’re glad you enjoyed it.
Got it!
Instructions are unclear. As written, it’s safe to assume those 2 letters will be among the ones included on each target. If you’d said, “Find the 2 letters — any 2 in the alphabet — which when entered….etc.
Trying to complete the six words for EACH target (as was implied by the instructions) was frustratingly impossible.
I love these puzzles, probably because they are easy to do!
We’re so glad you like the puzzles, Patricia!
Easy
At first, I misunderstood the directions. I thought I was being asked to select the 2 letters from the existing letters being shown! Could not do it. After about 10 minutes, I realized what I was really supposed to do and, subsequently, solved the puzzle in about 90 seconds. Got both right.
The puzzle was easy once I realized that you were looking for two different letters for each target. I was trying to find two letters that could be used in either target.
Fun puzzle but super easy.
I like brainteasing puzzles (easy, challenging, and all in between). Keeping in mind the tasks don’t have to be difficult to exercise your brain. I hope you keep these puzzles coming in the variety you have been offering (type and level of difficulty). They are a welcome “distraction” for me and a fun few minutes with my younger grandsons (sometimes we work them together).
This is great feedback, Kathy! We’re so glad you like them. Thank you for commenting!
easy peasy
Might have said find, any two letters in the alphabet, that combined will spell out the six letter words. It was still a fun game.
Got first one missed second
Didn’t know I could use my own letters
At first I was trying to figure it out by inserting only one letter but once I got the directions right, the puzzle was easy.
Number 2 was relatively easy, took me 15 seconds, 4 minutes on number 1.
too easy
easy, how about doing visuals the same way.
Developing the puzzle was probably a lot tougher than solving, but it was fun and would enjoy seeing more.
We’re glad you enjoyed it!
I thought “LL” worked for #1.
Fairly easy, second one more so than first one. Keep them coming!
Thanks
Will do. Thank you for commenting, Karen!
Too easy
It was awkward at first because of layout and I am a very visual person but the 2nd puzzle was easier
Thank you for the feedback. We appreciate it.
Loved the brain game!
We love hearing that, Arlene! Thanks for commenting!
easy
Great game but too easy.
wasn’t too difficult. I just look for a word for one…and then checked to see if it matched the others. I got the first one on my first try… it took me 2 tries on the second
Easy but fun. #2 was easier than #1 for me. Send us more!
Pretty easy, but fun.
